The history

Step 1

In 1995, dr. Laure Cosimano starts her practice with an outpatient basis veterinary service. By visiting customers' homes, the first 300 medical files were created.

Step 2

In 1996, dr. Laure Cosimano opened the Clinique Veterinaire de l' Est at 6975 Azilda road in Anjou. In the basement of her family home, and with less than 400 square feet, the animals' well-being was never neglected. The latest equipment was already in place. The clinic's policy was clear; extended opening hours to ensure the best possible service. At that time only 3 people worked at the clinic.

Step 3

In 1998, dr. Michel Cosimano graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medecine at the University of Montreal and became an associate of the Clinique de Veterinaire de l'Est. The purchase of a new building at 8674 avenue Chaumont (at the corner of Azilda) was achieved. With the new facilities of 1100 sq. ft. on the ground floor and 1100 sq. ft. in the basement for a total of 2200 sq. ft., and the massive purchase of more than $300 000 worth of additional equipment, we were now able to meet the standards that define a veterinary hospital, so in 1998 the veterinary clinic became the Hopital Veterinaire de l'Est.

Step 4

In 2003, the phenomenal growth of our customers lead us to further expansion as we were cramped in our premises. The purchase of a new building at the corner of avenue Chaumont gave our hospital an area of more than 4000 sq. ft. with an adjacent land area that could permit us to increase the hospital an additional 15 000 sq. ft. in the long run. An investment of more than 2 million dollars now provided 110 places for hospitalizations, 23 for isolation, 2 waiting rooms, 4 examination rooms and a lot of additional equipment including the laser, two digital radiographs (DR), digital ultrasound with color doppler, a C-Arm (fluorscope), endoscope, a more complete and ultra-sophisticated laboratory, advanced dental equipment and equipment for exotic animals such as birds, rodents, rabbits, ferrets, etc.
The borough of Anjou's community was able to benefit from the creation of more than 27 quality jobs. The hospital had seven full-time veterinarians, an administrator, about 20 animal health technicians, assistants, a secretary and two animal care handlers.

Step 5

In August 2005, shares in the A mon Chat veterinary clinic were purchased. Located in Boucherville, this small charming clinic specializes in cats. Thus, we expanded once again! After a year of association, in September 2005, remaining shares were purchased to become the sole owner of A mon Chat.

Step 6

During the summer of 2009, we took advantage of the vacation period to renovate the veterinary clinic of A Mon Chat. The clinic remained open during the renovations. By rearranging the existing space, we were able to design an area that was able to achieve maximum efficiency.

Step 7

In 2010, the hospital continued to grow, with nearly 11 000 additional sq. ft. to better serve our customers. Now with nine examination rooms, over 200 places for hospitalizations and new equipment such as the CT-scan, the therapeutic bath, the modernization of our laboratory and the addition of other equipment, we are able to meet the ever-growing demands of our customers, always looking for impeccable quality care.
We have to date over 50 people in our employment, veterinarians, animal health technicians, secretaries-receptionists, animal care handlers, janitors and administrators.

Step 8

March 19th 2012, the grand opening of the Hôpital Vétérinaire Richelieu!
